Hawai'i - ilha de Oahu - Havai

Waikiki beach in Honolulu. Most people that live in Hawaii live in Honolulu. The city is nice and it is well developed (for Hawaiian standards anyway). It is the "gate" for Asians entering the USA and the city has lots of nice restaurants and fashion shops. But there are tooooooons, tooooooooooons of Asian turists.
Waikiki beach with the inactive volcano crater at the end (Diamond head). I am not sure where Jakub's mind was, he could not remember the name of the place at all. He called it Devil's Head, Devil Diamond, Diamond Devil....

Legend has that there are huge waves in Hawaii. I've been there twice and so far nothing more than 2 ft. But in Waikiki they have a stone barrier to protect from the ocean currents. This way children and adults can play without having to worry too much about the open ocean.

Loja da Ferrari. Tirei essa foto pro Sebastian!
Ferrari store in Honolulu. I took this picture for you Seba!

- "Continental breakfast is free with your stay" said the hotel clerk.
I thought: "Sweet".. we can save some money that way.
- "You just have to present this coupon at the restaurant at the ground floor" said the clerk.
"GREAT".. Well.... As it turns out, the continental breakfast booth was right OUTSIDE the restaurant doors. There was a table and behind the table a little lady saying: - "Coffee or Juice?" "Chocolate, Blueberry or banana muffin?"...
If you know me, you know that I am not that much into the American typical breakfast. I can't even stand the smell of donuts. Muffins are okay but not for breakfast. I am a chocolate milk with bread and butter type of person (typical in Brazil), so I was quite disappointed to see our breakfast. However, Kuba was really happy.

The next day we took a cab to the top of the Diamond Head crater

A Trilha pra chegar no pico eh de uns 3 km mas eh meio ingrime.
A trail to get there is maybe 2 miles but it is very steep at some spots.

Toda vez que eu vejo aquela igrejinha me lembro do filme "Endless Summer".

On the same day we went to the North Shore of Oahu where there are huge waves in December. This is Waimea Bay park. And every time I see that little church it makes me think of the movie "Endless Summer".

Mas eu nao tenho fotos, so o video. No Havai chove e faz sol toda hora.
It was in Waimea Bay that we saw a pod of dolphins randomly swimming in front of us. Unfortunately they jump too fast and I could not get a picture. Only video. It rained pretty hard while we were at the beach. In Hawaii it is sunny for 5 minutes and it rains for another 5 minutes.

Shark's cove - Um lugar otimo pra fazer snorkeling.
Shark's cove - it's a great place for snorkeling. Too bad we got there too late and too bad it was overcast. Still, there were quite a few people scuba diving.

A famosa Sunset Beach e Banzai Pipeline. No inverno as ondas sao enormes e quebram nos corais. Varios campeonatos de surfe acontecem nessa praia. Mas.... dessa vez....

The famous Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline. In the winter time there are huge waves crashing in the coral reef forming the perfect "tube". There are several surfing competitions at this location. However.. as you can see.. there were no waves this time.

At the mass, Miss Hawaii was sitting right next to us. Kuba was sure to snap a picture.

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation
but I find this matter to be really something that I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
I'm looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
