Tahoe - hiking

Mais uma segunda-feira de folga e eu e o Nick (que trabalha comigo e tambem tem segundas de folga) fomos fazer uma caminhada em Lake Tahoe. Mas antes de chegar la tentamos ir pra outras trilhas mas, infelizmente, todo lugar que a gente ia ainda tinha muita neve.

One more Monday off... So Nick and I (Nick, my co-workers who also has Mondays off) went hiking near Lake Tahoe. But before we got there, we actually went to several different places to hike. However... because there was so much snow on the ground still, we ended up in Lake Tahoe.

Windsurf no rio

Um dia desses... O Kuba chegou do trabalho e perguntou se eu queria fazer windsurf no rio com ele. O QUE? Windsurf no Rio? Nao... Pois bem... ele pediu as rodinhas do Kayak do vizinho e amarrou a prancha e tudo junto pra levar pro rio que passa aqui perto de casa

One of those days... when Kuba got home he decided he wanted to go windsurfing at the American River. WHAT? Windsurf at the American River? No way... Well.... he went to the neighbor's house to borrow their kayak "wheels", he tied the board, sail, mast and all and took it to the river.Does he look silly or what?

It was not worth the trip. But at least now he can say that he went "windsurfing in the American River"

• As ultimas semanas foram complicadas pra mim. Pra comecar, eu peguei uma gripe horrivel e fiquei doente mais de 10 dias - e nem corri... nao conseguia respirar. Pra ter uma ideia, eu usei uma caixa de lencos Kleenex num dia so! Enfim... fiquei sem correr 10 dias.
• Semana passada eu voltei a correr. Em media eu tenho corrido entre 12 e 13 km em uma hora, 3-4 vezes por semana. No domingo eu corri 20km e quando eu cheguei em casa comecei a ter uma dor muito forte do lado esquerdo do peito. A dor ficava mais forte quando eu respirava fundo. Esperei a dor passar achando que nao era nada de demais. Porem eu nao consegui dormir direito....
• Na segunda a dor nao tinha passado e tava ficando mais forte. Decidi que iria ao medico no dia seguinte.
• Na terca a dor era tao forte que achei que eu estava tendo um ataque cardiaco. Fui no medico e depois de fazer um eletro e tirar um raio-X pra descartar outras coisas, ele disse que eu tinha COSTOCONDRITE - uma inflamacao na cartilagem que liga as costelas ao osso do peito (a parte azul clara do desenho). Me deu um anti-inflamatorio e mandou eu nao fazer exercicios fisicos por 10 dias.
• Na quarta fui trabalhar e a dor ficou infinitamente mais forte. Tao forte que eu nao conseguia mais andar de tanta dor e tive que ir pra casa. Eu senti muuuuuita dor. Muita dor pra respirar, pra andar, pra me mexer, pra comer, pra falar. Eu queria chorar mas sabia que se eu chorasse ia doer mais ainda. A dor mais forte porem veio quando eu tive que tossir.. Nao desejo a ninguem!
• De quarta-feira ate sabado eu fiquei sentadinha em casa, sem fazer nada, so tentando respirar. Ate dormi sentada porque deitar doia muito.
• Sabado eu comecei a melhorar. No Domingo acho que ja vou conseguir fazer uma caminhada pela vizinhanca.

Espero ficar boa rapido.... e voltar ao treino...

• The last couple of weeks were not fun for me. To start I caught a cold and I was sick for 10 days. For the first time I went through a box of Kleenex tissues in just one day. I could not breath well and I held off from running. :(
• Then I went back to running... Lately I have been running between 7-8 miles (12-13 km) in an hour, 3-4 times a week. But on Sunday I went for a long run, 12 miles (18-19 km?) and when I came back I had a really weird pain on the left side of my chest. The pain increased as I tried to take a deep breath. I did not sleep well on that day...
• Monday - the pain increased... I decided that I would go to the doctor the next day
• Tuesday - the pain on my chest was so strong I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I went to the doctor and after an ECG and an X-ray to eliminate other diseases, he said I had costochondritis, an inflammation in the cartilage that connects the rib bones to the chest bone. He gave me anti-inflammatory drugs and told me to stay away from running for 10 days.
• Wednesday - I was at work and I thought I was going to pass out because I was in so much pain. I had to go home. I was in soooooooooooo much pain!!! It hurt to breath, walk, move, talk and especially to cough. I wanted to cry but I knew that if I did, it would only get worse.
• From Wednesday to Saturday I sat on my butt the entire time (literally.. I even slept sitting!) just focusing on breathing.
• Saturday I was feeling better.. maybe Sunday I can go for a walk around the neighborhood.

I just hope I get better fast.. and go back to running...

Aniversario do Andy - birthday

Foi aniversario de um colega de trabalho outro dia e eu fiz um bolo de chocolate pra ele - eu fiquei com pena dele porque ele terminou com a namorada faz pouco tempo.. Enfim.. esse eh o Andy.

It was Andy's birthday in April and I baked a chocolate cake for him. Andy is one of my co-workers. Tremida??? Out of focus?

It's been a while... / Faz tempo...

Faz tempo que eu nao escrevo nada e nem tiro fotos. Depois que a temporada de inverno acabou aqui a gente simplesmente nao fez mas nada de interessante... heheh
Na verdade em uma segunda-feira em que eu estava de folga eu fui fazer uma caminha com meu amigo Nick em Napa.. perto de Napa, num lugar chamado Bald Mountain. Foi legalzinho mas demorou muito pra chegar la e a caminhada foi muito facil. Chegamos la as 10 da manha e meio dia ja tinhamos acabado a caminhada. Como ainda tinhamos o dia inteiro pela frente, decidimos ir ate Bodega Bay (um dos lugares que o Nick mais gosta e que eu nunca tinha ido) e fizemos uma caminhada la tambem. Bodega Bay eh bonito.. a costa da California eh bonita mas ainda sim, nada se compara ao Brasil na minha opiniao. Bodega Bay fica ao norte de Sao Francisco e mais ou menos 2 horas daqui de Sacramento.


It's been a while since I wrote anything down for the blog. I haven't taken pictures either. The truth is.. as the winter season/snowboarding ended, Kuba and I haven't been up to anything really. Nothing interesting anyway...
Actually one of the Mondays in which I was off, I went hiking with my friend Nick from work. We went to Bald Mountain near Napa (West of Sacramento). It took a while to get there and the hike was pretty easy. When we got to the top the view was not that great - on a clear day it's possible to see the Golden Gate from there. We were done with the hike around noon and since we still had the whole day we went to Bodega Bay, north of San Francisco. Bodega Bay is one of Nick's favorite places and I had never been there. It was nice.. we hiked around, took some pictures... California coast is beautiful but I still think there's nothing like Brazil.
